Mrs. A.B. (Rebecca) MorrisA retired teacher, Mrs. A.B. (Rebecca) Morris has been a loyal, model fan of Wildcat teams for more than 75 years. She receives the ninth Lifetime Achievement Award from the ACU Sports Hall of Fame. Her husband, the late A.B. Morris, was a longtime coach and director of athletics at Abilene Christian and a member of the Hall of Fame's first class in 1986-87. Mrs. Morris received a B.A. degree from Abilene Christian in 1925 and later taught drama and directed theatre productions at the university. She founded the university's chapter of Alpha Psi Omega, national honorary drama society. An endowed scholarship was established in her honor at ACU in 1990 to benefit undergraduate students who are active in and show outstanding ability and potential in the performing arts, and a scholarship fund for ACU women's basketball also honors Mrs. Morris. The Morris' son, Charles, also competed in athletics at Abilene Christian and later served as a coach and administrator of intercollegiate athletics. |
