Roy LewisRoy Lewis, retired engineer for the U.S. Post Office in Abilene, is the sixth person to receive a Lifetime Achievement Award from the ACU Sports Hall of Fame for special service and contributions to Wildcat athletics. Lewis is a former president of the ACU Wildcat Club, and for about 25 years he has served as a volunteer to film home and road football games, officiate at track and field meets at Gray Stadium, and serve on charter trips as airplane pilot and bus driver. A graduate of Midlothian High School, Lewis received a bachelor's degree in secondary education from Abilene Christian in 1952. He was a member of A Cappella Chorus, Orphesian Society and Alpha Psi Omega. He retired in 1981 after a 30-year career with the U.S. Post Office and later worked for Abilene Aero. His wife, LuGene, former president and Woman of the Year for the local chapter of American Business Women's Association, retired in 1987 after working 18 years for the university. Lewis' wife and their four children also all attended Abilene Christian. He has served as an elder for Highland Church of Christ. |
