Judy Kniffen ClardyJudy Kniffen Clardy was an all-America tennis player at Abilene Christian in 1983-84 and 1984-85 after her transfer from Tyler Junior College. She was awarded the Paul Goad memorial award as outstanding female student-athlete at ACU after her junior year, when she compiled a singles record of 27-4 (including 14-2 against NCAA Division I players), won the Lone Star Conference singles title and earned NCAA Division II all-America. As a senior in 1985, she was Lone Star Conference champion in doubles with her sister, J'Lynn; led the Wildcats to the LSC team title; again advanced to the NCAA Division II national tournament; and was a repeat choice as all-America. Twice she won the outstanding player award for women's tennis at Abilene Christian. Clardy, wife of former ACU basketball player Travis Clardy, earned junior college all-America honors both as a freshman and sophomore and led TJC to the national championship after her outstanding high school career at Lee High School in Tyler. She was also district MVP in volleyball in high school. |
