Label for Sports Hall of Fame

A university with a rich tradition of intercollegiate athletics has a Sports Hall of Fame to honor men and women who started and developed this respected program of competition and education for student-athletes.

Abilene Christian University launched its Sports Hall of Fame in 1986 with stated purposes "to recognize and honor those persons whose participation and contributions have enriched and strengthened the athletic program, to provide an enduring memorial to sportsman-ship and competitive spirit, and to preserve for posterity the memories of those whose athletic endeavors have brought fame and honor to Abilene Christian University."

In addition to athletic ability, the selection committee for the ACU Sports Hall of Fame will also consider sportsmanship, character and integrity of nominees. All sports will be considered equally, including sports which may no longer be played on campus. To be considered, student-athletes must have completed their eligibility for at least 10 years, and coaches and others must have completed their service for at least five years.

Coaches and student-athletes from Wildcat sports teams have carried the name Abilene Christian University around the world, bringing home gold medals, setting world records and winning national championships.

Now these men and women unanimously chosen by the selection committee will be publicly recognized for their role in making intercollegiate athletics an integral part of this unique institution.
