VALDOSTA, Ga. -- Abilene Christian golfers Kyle Byerly and Matt Samples each dropped out of the top 15 in the individual medalist race after Tuesday's second round of the NCAA Division II South Central Region Tournament.
Byerly started Tuesday's second round tied for 15th after an opening round 76, while Samples started tied for sixth after an opening-round 74. Even though Byerly actually shot a better round on Tuesday (3-over-par 75), he dropped three spots in the standings into a tie for 18th place overall. Samples shot a 6-over-par 78 to drop into a tie for 23rd in the individual standings.
Byerly birdied No. 2 to get his day started on the right foot, but he followed that with double bogeys on both Nos. 3 and 4. He got back on track with a birdie at No. 6 before carding a bogey on No. 8. Byerly, though, parred holes 9-18 to finish his day at 3-over-par.
Samples bogeyed his first hole of the day and doubled No. 5 before carding a birdie on No. 7. He bogeyed both 10 and 11 to start his back nine before getting a double-bogey on No. 16. He finished his day with a birdie at 18 to finish at 6-over-par.

The Bronchos are at 591 after two rounds, while Lone Star Conference champion Northeastern State is second at 595 (303-292).
