Cheerleading

It is time again for ACU cheerleading tryouts. There are 16 spots available, but not all 16 have to be filled. We will be taking both guys and girls. Scholarships are available, and they vary depending on the number of years served on the ACU cheerleading squad.

Open practices will be held on TBD (10:30am-noon) andTBD (2:00-3:30pm) at the Teague Special Events Center.

Tryouts will be Saturday, April 25th, starting at 9 a.m. in the Teague Special Events Center.

Following is a tentative tryout schedule of how the day will go:

9-9:30 a.m. -- Registration
9:30-10 a.m. -- Stretch and warm-up
10 a.m. -Noon -- Learn cheer, chant and dance
Noon-1 p.m. -- Lunch
1-2 p.m. -- Review material
2 p.m.-Finish -- Tryouts in front of judges only

REQUIRED MATERIAL FOR TRYOUTS:

  1. Standing back handspring
  2. Running tumbling pass--with more than 1 back handspring
  3. Three consecutive jumps
  4. Performance of learned material
  5. STUNTS: If you are a flyer, base, or back spot you MUST be able to perform the following: liberty, heel stretch with FULL DOWN, and one optional stunt. (There will be time to stunt with lots of different people to find the group that fits you best.)

RECOMMENDED MATERIAL:

  1. Standing BACK tuck
  2. Partner stunting with guys

It is VERY important the each person planning on trying out work on this material before the day of tryouts. We will not have time to teach tumbling and stunting.

We are looking forward to tryouts and meeting each of you. If you have any other questions you can e-mail Trish Mosley at jaredandtrish@sbcglobal.net.

Thank you for your interest in our program!
