ACU Honors Illinois Alumnus for Achievement
for immediate release April 21, 1998Andrew Starck of Arlington Heights, president of the oldest family-owned real estate business in the Chicago area, will receive a 1997-98 Abilene Christian University Distinguished Alumni Citation Sunday, May 3.
The 3:15 p.m. presentation will be during a reception honoring Starck from 2:30-4 p.m. at The Water Cress, Crystal Room No. 2, 1200 West Northwest Highway, Palatine, Ill.
The Distinguished Alumni Citation recognizes distinctive personal and professional achievement of ACU alumni who have merited the honor and praise of peers and colleagues. Only four individuals among ACU's 75,000 alumni will receive the honor this year, one representing each college and one chosen at large. Starck was chosen for the College of Business Administration.
Starck, a 1969 ACU graduate, is president of Starck & Company Realtors, which has 13 locations throughout northwest Chicago. Starck also has served as president and director of the National Relocation Trade Organization.
He serves as an ACU College of Business Administration Business Affiliate, and has served on other ACU advisory boards in past years. Starck graduated from the University of Texas Law School in 1972, and is currently a member of the Illinois Bar Association.
Starck also has volunteered in a number of church and civic roles. He has been an active leader for the Boy Scouts, and he has served as deacon and co-youth minister at Cardinal Church of Christ.
He and his wife, Sharon, have two children: Aaron, a junior at ACU; and Shannon, a graduate of the University of Indiana.
About 150 miles west of the Dallas/Fort Worth area, ACU is affiliated with the churches of Christ and has an enrollment of more than 4,500 students.
