ACU Names New Registrar
for immediate release Nov. 7, 1997Danelle Brand, who has served in many roles at Abilene Christian University, has been named ACU's registrar, effective Jan. 1.
Dr. Dwayne VanRheenen, provost, announced the appointment to faculty and staff today.
Currently, Brand is assistant dean of the Graduate School and director of the Professional and Continuing Education and Bachelor of Applied Studies programs. In these positions, she has performed in the roles of academic adviser, course developer, graduate student registrar and recruiter, and has been responsible for developing and implementing policies and procedures for admissions, scholarships, graduate assistants, SIS+ software, graduation and commencement ceremonies.
"Danelle's professional training and experience are ideal for the position of registrar," VanRheenen said. "I believe her skill as a leader will enable the office to provide high-quality service to students, departments, faculty members and other advisers, deans and other administrators, employers and graduate schools."
Brand teaches courses in the University 100, Academic Advance and Applied Studies programs. She is professionally active in the Association of Texas Graduate Schools, the Council of Adult and Experiential Education, the Texas Association of Community Service and Continuing Education, and the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers.
Her master's degree is from ACU, and her bachelor's degree is from East Texas State University.
While filling several administrative roles on campus, Dr. David Merrell has temporarily served as registrar during the search process. He will continue as director of Curriculum and Advising, as faculty athletics representative to the NCAA and Lone Star Conference, and as professor of English.
