ACU Names New Director of Marketing and Public Relations
for immediate release Sept. 19, 1997Michelle Morris recently was named director of marketing and public relations for Abilene Christian University.
She brings more than a decade of writing, public relations and marketing experience to ACU. In her new role, she oversees image management, public relations, advertising, media relations, sports information, publications and the ACU web site.
Prior to this new job at ACU, Morris served as special publications manager and graphic design manager for the Abilene Reporter-News. In the mid-'80s, she worked as the newspaper's health and education reporter. Morris served as ACU's director of media relations from 1988-92. She served as associate editor of ACU Today, the university's award-winning magazine, and now serves on the publication's advisory board.
At ACU, Morris will serve as a member of the Enrollment Strategy Team and will be involved in various projects that enhance the overall image of the university.
Before returning to Abilene in August 1996, Morris owned a public relations and advertising firm, The Morris Agency, in Morristown, Tenn., for two years. She is the former marketing coordinator for Condley and Company, CPAs, and is a free-lance writer and editor for various publications.
Morris earned a B.A. in journalism in 1987 and an M.A. in mass communication in 1995 from ACU.
She and her husband, Ric, have two daughters: Sara, age 8, and Corinne, age 5.
