450 Students To Become Alumni During Commencements

Abilene Christian University will award degrees to 450 students during two ceremonies Saturday - 387 bachelor degrees during Undergraduate Commencement at 2 p.m. in Moody Coliseum and 59 master and four doctoral degrees during Graduate Commencement at 11 a.m. in Cullen Auditorium.

Jeanene Reese, adjunct faculty of biblical studies, will give the charge to the class of 1998 during the undergraduate ceremony. Dr. Carley Dodd, dean of the Graduate School, will give the commencement address to the graduate students. A reception for the master and doctoral degree recipients will follow their ceremony in the Biblical Studies Building's Hall of Servants.

The undergraduate students with the three highest grade point averages will be honored with the Alpha Chi Award. Two students with 4.0 grade point averages will be honored as the No. 1 ranked graduates followed by the second and third ranked students: Geremy Francis Keeton, senior human communication major from Gatesville, 4.0; Adam Ryan Nicholson, senior Bible major from Anderson, Ind., 4.0; Thomas Brian Cavitt, senior Bible and chemistry major from Lake Jackson, 3.975; and Mark Alan Smith, senior theatre major from Bristol, Va., 3.973.

Several other student awards will be presented during the undergraduate ceremony as well as the Teacher of the Year Award.
