8th-Graders Experience Day in College Life at ACU
for immediate release April 2, 1998WHO: About 200 eighth-graders from Mann Middle School hosted by students, faculty and staff at Abilene Christian University.WHAT: A day for students about to enter high school to be exposed to the opportunities of college. WHEN/WHERE: Friday, April 3
ACU and its Education Department wanted to do something to help Mann's faculty and students because of how much they have helped ACU students become better teachers, said Dana Hood, instructor of education and a coordinator of the second annual event. "This is really an expansion of our partnership," Hood said. "We are hoping to expose students to college life. They may live in Abilene, but many of them haven't been on a college campus. We want to open their eyes to the opportunities and let them know what a college looks like and feels like."
