for immediate release Dec. 2, 1997

Abilene Christian University will be a testing site for the computer-based versions of the GRE and GMAT on Dec. 10, 11 and 12, officials announced after receiving a last-minute confirmation.

The Educational Testing Service, which administers the tests, has added more testing sites in Texas after too few were originally scheduled.

The GRE will be offered all three days. The GMAT will only be offered on Dec. 11 and 12. A limited number of computers will be available for students to take the exams.

To register for the GRE, call 1-800-627-4276 as soon as possible and choose Option 2. To register for the GMAT, call 1-800-GMAT-NOW as soon as possible. Have a credit card ready. Upon registration, students will be told what time to arrive at the test site in the Hilton Room of the McGlothlin Campus Center. They should bring a photo ID to check in.

The GRE (Graduate Record Examination) is a graduate admissions test that measures verbal, quantitative and analytical abilities and is required by many graduate schools worldwide.

The GMAT (Graduate Management Admission Test) measures language, quantitative and writing skills and is designed to help predict a student's potential academic performance in the first year of graduate managment school. It is required by many MBA programs.

In the computer-based version of the tests, students can chose to see their scores immediately upon completion of multiple-choice sections.
