ACU senior Camille Vandendriessche, with a total of 7,674 points, earned a record-setting third straight NCAA Division II national championship in the decathlon.
With his victory in the event, Vandendriessche becomes the first athlete in NCAA Division II history to win three straight multi-event championships, the third athlete in NCAA history to win three straight multi-event titles, and only the fourth athlete in NCAA history to win three multi-event titles in a career. Turns out the ACU Wildcats didn't need any miracle potions or magic spells to win Star Conference Baseball Championship series. All they needed was a healthy dose of Preston Vancil.
The ACU senior righthander hurled seven shutout innings, and the Wildcat offense did the rest as ACU won the LSC baseball championship with a 6-0 win over Angelo State at Crutcher Scott Field.
ACU's victory gave the Wildcats the league's automatic berth into NCAA Division II South Central Region Tournament where they made their eighth appearance in the tournament since 2000. The Wildcats won the 2003 regional tournament to earn a College World Series berth.

The Wildcats (42-13) and ranked 12th in the country and advanced to the NCAA Division II South Central Region sub-regional tournament in Durant, Okla.
ACU head coach Hutton Jones said before the Lone Star Conference Tennis Championships began that he believed he had the two best teams in the league.
Those two teams proved him correct as the ACU men's and women's tennis teams captured their respective LSC team championships at the Hamilton Park Tennis Center. The ACU women beat Tarleton State for the second straight year in the championship match, and did it by the same 5-0 score as in 2008.
The biggest surprise, however, might have been the ACU men's 5-3 win over defending conference champion Cameron, which entered the match ranked No. 11 in the country.
