Years of hard work are paying off for one
recent ACU graduate. Theatre alumnus Lara Seibert landed a role in the Broadway
production of Mel Brook's Young Frankenstein. The 2006 graduate will be a regular member of the ensemble in
the production. She will also be understudying the role of "Inga," the yodeling
lab assistant for Dr. Frederick Frankenstein.
"Lara is an extraordinary talent and a remarkable person. I
loved having Lara as a theatre major," said Adam Hester, professor and chair of
the ACU Department of Theatre. "She was not only a triple threat, meaning she
could sing, dance and act, she was also enormously fun. Lara has a great sense
of humor and a truly humble spirit."
As a student, Seibert played several leads, including the roles of "Lois/Bianca" in Kiss Me Kate, "Miranda" in
The Tempest, "Gertrude McFuzz" in Seussical, A Grand Night for
Singing.
Seibert not only acted at ACU, she was
gifted in costume and set design, said Hester. She designed the sets for
the main stage production of John Steinbeck's Of Mice and Men.
After graduation, Seibert was cast in the national
tour of The Producers, performing in the chorus and understudying "Ulla."
She repeated that success in another professional production of The
Producers in New Jersey. Shortly after the tour, Seibert auditioned and
landed both the chorus and understudying role in Young Frankenstein.
"I'm confident that Young Frankenstein is only the
first Broadway show I'll get to see Lara in," said Hester. "When it comes to
theatre, she's the real deal. She is an amazing example of what it means
to be an artist of faith."
Currently, Seibert is performing in preview showings of Young Frankenstein at the Hilton Theatre
in New York City. Young Frankenstein opens on Broadway Nov. 8.
