ACU ranks among Top 10 Christian universities

Posted August 14, 2014

Abilene Christian University is one of the 10 best Christian universities in the nation, according to Christian Universities Online, an independent resource for prospective students and their families. “Our site not only helps them find the right Christian school, but get into, pay for and thrive at it as well,” according to editor Michael Templeton.

The site points to ACU as an institution that “provides a learning atmosphere for students of all faiths or no faith while accenting the Christian way of life. Professors often devote time to encourage students to give of themselves as required of the faithful. Students’ Christian beliefs and standards of behavior are respected in a supportive environment.”

"The experts who compiled this list say they were looking for universities that offer the highest degree of personal attention, are selective in who they accept, offer generous financial assistance and are rated highly by their graduates. That's ACU,” says university spokesman Grant Rampy. “We're proud to be recognized as a standout among the many universities nationwide that offer a Christian college experience."

About ACU, the site says:

Founded in 1906 and affiliated with the Churches of Christ, Abilene Christian University (ACU) has carried on its mission of “educating students for Christian service and leadership throughout the world” for over 100 years. ACU has historically held the distinction of being the largest U.S. organization that still requires daily chapel attendance and also has required Bible courses each student must take. The school advertises itself as “selective,” which is reflected in the 49% acceptance rate but also prides itself in one of the highest retention and graduation rates of any school in our list. Undergraduates at ACU may choose from 71 majors that include more than 125 areas of study. Graduate students have more than 25 degree programs to choose from and one doctoral program. ACU’s pre-professional program success is reflected in the fact that pre-med students are accepted at a rate more than twice the national average and law students enjoy an acceptance rate of over 90%. Student life at ACU is equally engaging and diverse with just about every state in the U.S. and over 43 nations being represented. ACU continues to grow in its student population and national recognition as one of the top universities with U.S. News & World Report ranking it as the top “Up and Coming” university in the West Region.
