Mobile Learning Research wins Best ArticlePosted April 25, 2014
Dr. Stephen Baldridge, assistant professor and director of ACU's Bachelor of Science in Social Work program, and three ACU students were recognized by the Editorial Board of the Journal of Baccalaureate Social Work (JBSW) for the article “Mobile Classrooms: Using Mobile Devices to Enhance BSW Education.” The article was named Best JBSW Article for 2013.
Amanda McAdams (’11), Alexandra Reed (’13) and Alex Moran (’12) are student co-authors of the article. Baldridge, McAdams and Reed accepted the award in late March at the annual meeting of the Baccalaureate Social Work Program Directors Meeting in Louisville, Ky.
After completing the article as undergraduates, the three students collaborated with Dr. Baldridge to present their findings in several professional settings. Their venues include the 2012 Annual Program Meeting of the Council on Social Work Education, the 2013 National Social Science Association Technology Conference and the 2014 UNESCO International Mobile Learning Conference in Paris. Reed also presented her findings at the 2013 annual meeting for the National Council for Undergraduate Research.
Dr. Tom Winter, director of the School of Social Work, says, “One of our goals for members of the social work program is that our scholarship makes a meaningful difference for people, communities and organizations, locally and around the world. Collaboration with students models quality professional behavior, and reinforces habits of scholarship and service to our profession that can last a lifetime. We congratulate these colleagues for this prestigious award given by the JBSW and the recognition it provides ACU and the School of Social Work.”
The Editorial Board of the Journal of Baccalaureate Social Work is the primary professional journal for undergraduate social wok education in the U.S. and North America.
McAdams completed her M.S.S.W. at ACU in 2012. Reed will receive her M.S.S.W. from ACU in May, and Moran will earn her M.S.S.W. from the University of Texas at Arlington in May.
