Duncum Center to host mediation training in Dallas

Posted March 07, 2014

ACU's Duncum Center for Conflict Resolution will host a 40-hour mediation
training seminar in Dallas March 17-21. Trainers Joe L. Cope, J.D., and
Lori Anne Shaw, M.S., will guide participants in identifying and applying
creative conflict resolution techniques.

"We increasingly find ourselves being shaped by conflicts, those in our
personal lives and in the lives of others around us," says Cope. "Our
course is perfect for anyone who wants to learn how to address conflict
with confidence and poise, not just for those interested in a career in
mediation."

Joe L. Cope holds a law degree from the Texas Tech University School of Law
and a certificate in dispute resolution from the Pepperdine University
School of Law. He serves as the Duncum Center for Conflict Resolution's
executive director. Lori Anne Shaw received her M.S. in psychology and
graduate certificate in conflict resolution from ACU. The two collaborate
in teaching Negotiation and Mediation. Dr. Shaw also teaches Managing
Conflict in Schools, Managing Conflict in the Workplace, Communication and
Conflict Theory, and Advanced Mediation classes at ACU.

This training seminar exceeds Texas Mediation Trainers Roundtable
Standards. Participants in graduate school earn 37.25 hours of CEUs, and
law students have the opportunity to earn 2.50 ethics hours of MCLEs. The
basic 40-hour Mediation Training is pending approval for re-certification
credits toward PHR, SPHR and GPHR.

The cost of attending the program is $750; however, certain discounts may
apply. Interested parties may register online. For
more information, view the website or
email the Duncum Center.
