Donors issue $100,000 matching challenge

Posted November 22, 2013

Donors to ACU can double the effects of their gifts this fall, thanks to a group of generous donors, who have pooled their resources to challenge ACU’s alumni and friends with a $100,000 matching gift to the Exceptional Fund.

The challenge applies a 1:1 match to any Exceptional Fund gift made before Dec. 31. The maximum donation eligible for a match is $2,000. Gifts can be made at ACU’s online giving page.

“Every gift to ACU helps students experience the life-changing atmosphere of ACU, where they develop friendships with peers, partnerships with faculty and a life-changing relationship with God,” said Billie Currey, interim vice president for Advancement.

Gifts to the Exceptional Fund provide important dollars right away for student scholarships, faculty enrichment and innovative programs, which have made ACU one of the top universities in the west.

A gift of any size – along with being doubled by the matching challenge – also helps boost the university’s alumni participation rate, which can increase the number of gifts from foundations and corporate donors.

Fulfillment of pledges made before Nov. 1 do not count toward the challenge, and matching corporate or foundation gifts are not eligible. There is no minimum level of giving required for the match.
