KACU ready for revamp with introduction of new directors and manager

Posted October 30, 2013

ACU’s own 89.7 KACU-FM is proud to announce that Nathan Gibbs has joined
the station as general manager and director of broadcast operations.

Gibbs ('00) worked at KACU as a student before graduating with a B.S.
in electronic media. He subsequently earned an M.F.A. in electronic arts
from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, N.Y.

While in New York, Gibbs hosted a radio program at WRPI, then moved to San
Diego, Calif., to work as a media production specialist. He recently
concluded nine years as an interactive product specialist for KPBS.

“Nathan's tremendous broadcasting skills and his professional experience in
a major market will help him to take a cutting edge approach toward KACU,”
says Dr. Cheryl Bacon, chair of ACU's Department of Journalism and Mass
Communication.

“Nathan brings a lot of exciting ideas," adds Meagan Freeman, KACU director
of news and operations since August. "People around Abilene and on campus
may think we’re simply a small radio station operating in a corner of the
Don Morris building, but with Nathan's experience and talent, I know we'll
be able to extend KACU's reach and broaden its impact on our community."
