ACU COBA grads have high placement rate after 90 days

Posted September 30, 2013

Students who graduate with a degree from ACU’s College of Business
Administration (COBA) are finding jobs and gaining acceptance to
post-graduate degree programs in large numbers, according to a new study
showing a 95 percent placement rate for students who earned a Bachelor of
Business Administration degree in May 2013.

One of them was Meg Harley, a May 2013 graduate with a B.B.A. degree in
marketing who was intent on finding a career opportunity in Houston. She
spent the summer between her junior and senior year as an intern with USAA
in San Antonio. That experience led to interest from two other companies
and, eventually, a job.

“For years, our faculty have embraced the need to focus on career
development as part of our business curriculum,” says Dr. Rick Lytle, dean
of COBA. “In addition, we’ve committed more resources to help our students
plan for their lives after graduation. We’re especially fortunate that
generous alumni across the nation are partnering with us to connect
students to valuable internships and great jobs.”

Of 78 students who graduated with a B.B.A. degree and also responded to a
survey, 46 accepted employment offers with an average annual starting
salary of just over $44,000. Among their employers were Reliant Energy in
Houston, Dell Computers in Austin, Wells Fargo in Fort Worth,
PricewaterhouseCoopers in Dallas, Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene,
Documation in San Antonio, and Accenture in Arlington, Va. Twenty-three
other students were accepted to a graduate program or professional school.
ACU’s COBA is one of nine private universities in Texas, one of two Church of Christ schools and one of three CCCU schools to be accredited by AACSB, the highest standard for business schools
in the world.
