Distinguished Scholar in Residence writes church history bookPosted May 03, 2013
Dr. Everett Ferguson, distinguished scholar in residence, in ACU's Graduate School of Theology, has written a new book, The Early Church and Today. After earning his Ph.D. from Harvard University, he taught Bible, church history and Greek at ACU from 1962-98.
The Early Church and Today is a collection of scholarly articles written for a broad audience by Ferguson, an acclaimed specialist in early Christianity. The topics, taken from the New Testament and other early Christian literature, are relevant for the church today.
The articles are grouped in the following categories: Volume 1, church and ministry; Volume 2, Christian living, biblical interpretation, the Restoration motif, religious liberty, and the book of Acts. Sections range from topics such as "Ministry of the Word in the First Two Centuries," "Women in the Post-Apostolic Church" and "Christian Living in a Pagan Society."
