Inaugural Jinkerson Scholarship Scramble to honor Dr. JinkersonPosted April 05, 2013
On Friday, April 19, the Jinkerson Scholarship Scramble event will honor the memory of Dr. Darryl Jinkerson, former associate professor of management at ACU, by combining his passions for study abroad programs and golf. Jinkerson had served on the faculty in ACU's College of Business Administration for 10 years when he died suddenly Oct. 12, 2012.
The scramble will begin at 8:30 a.m. It includes a day of golf and dining at the Abilene Country Club. Proceeds will benefit the Darryl and Cindy Jinkerson Study Abroad Scholarship Endowment, created to honor Jinkerson and his wife as part of ACU's Partnering in the Journey scholarship campaign.
Jinkerson was committed to engaging students globally through study abroad programs in a variety of countries. He was named ACU's Director of Global Initiatives in the summer of 2012 and was actively engaged in refining existing programs and creating new opportunities for students. Jinkerson led groups of students on study abroad trips to Honduras; China; Oxford, England; and Australia.
The tournament fee includes breakfast, lunch, green fee, range balls and golf cart rental. Registrants may sign up individually or as a foursome. Fees will be collected via check or by credit card or debit card (a 2.75% convenience fee may apply) during check-in on the morning of the tournament. The student tournament fee is $75 and the non-student fee is $100.
