Third annual SAND 5K and Pet-a-Thon encourages active lifestyles

Posted April 01, 2013

ACU’s nutrition club, the Student Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (SAND), will host its third annual 5K fun run on April 6 at Red Bud Park.

The race will have two options: a 3.1-mile course and a 1-mile Pet-a-Thon course. The 5K race begins at 9 a.m. The Pet-a-Thon gets underway at 9:30 a.m. with participants encouraged to walk dogs from the local shelter around a 1-mile track.

SAND will also hold a pre-race day raffle drawing and a race day raffle drawing. Tickets can be purchased in the Campus Center from 11:00 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays, or on the day of the race from any 5K committee member.

Proceeds will go toward SAND's "Get Moving" effort, an initiative encouraging the community to exercise and practice good nutrition in a fun and interactive way.

Registration is $15 for the 5K, $7 for the Pet-a-Thon or $20 for both. Raffle tickets are $1 each or $5 for six tickets.

Registration and raffle ticket prices will increase on the day of the race, so register online today.
