Mingle & Jingle brings holiday cheer to campus, community

Posted November 07, 2012

Get ready to Mingle & Jingle at ACU's Christmas celebration on Dec. 2, an opportunity for people across Abilene to kick off the yuletide season with free hot cocoa and cookies, a visit from Santa, and an acoustic concert by country music star Aaron Watson.

Watson, a 2000 graduate of ACU, celebrated his most successful release to date with his "Real Good Time" album debuting at No. 9 on the Billboard Country Chart and No. 81 overall on the Billboard Top 200 in album sales.

“The holiday season is a time for family and friends to come together and celebrate the gifts God has given us," says ACU's Director of Strategic Marketing Kris Evans. "We wanted to provide a time to share in that special moment with our campus, our alums and our neighbors.”

The celebration will be held on the front lawn of the Onstead-Packer Biblical Studies Building from 7-9 p.m. A schedule of events is below.

6:30 p.m.Parking opens

7:15-8 p.m.Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas

“Groups across the entire campus are pooling resources to host this year's event for the ACU family and Abilene community to enjoy," says Evans. "We are so excited that Aaron was willing to join us for the evening as well. He has been such a great supporter of the university and service organizations in Abilene.”

This event is free. Families are asked to bring an unwrapped new toy for Abilene’s Christmas on the Street gift drive sponsored by Love and Care Ministries. No alcohol or smoking on campus grounds will be permitted.
