Griggs Center to host entrepreneur and investor training events

Posted June 29, 2012

This fall, ACU’s Griggs Center for Entrepreneurship and Philanthropy will host two training events for entrepreneurs and investors in the Big Country – the ACU Entrepreneur Bootcamp and the Angel Investing Seminar.

ACU Entrepreneur Bootcamp

The ACU Entrepreneur Bootcamp is a full-day training program designed for aspiring entrepreneurs in the Abilene area. The training session assists two types of individuals: those who are interested in entrepreneurship but do not have a specific concept in mind, and those who have a business concept and need help launching the venture.

The bootcamp concentrates on the key tools, perspectives and approaches used to successfully create and launch a business.  Presenters include ACU faculty members and successful area entrepreneurs. The presenters will share advice and expertise, focusing on applying concepts and ideas to the attendees' business ventures.

ACU Entrepreneur Bootcamp takes place Aug. 10 from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. in ACU’s Hunter Welcome Center.  Space is limited and prior registration is required. Early registration is available for $99 per person through Aug. 1.

Angel Investing Seminar

The Griggs Center is partnering with the Angel Resource Institute, founded by the Kauffman Foundation, to offer a daylong seminar focusing on angel investing. The event is designed for angel investors, entrepreneurs, economic professionals and university faculty, staff and students.

This seminar provides a comprehensive overview of the angel investing process and presents the fundamental ‘how-to’ skills for successful angel investing.  The interactive training includes advice and instruction from experienced investors and professionals.

The seminar is on Oct. 11 from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. in ACU’s Hunter Welcome Center.  Space is limited and prior registration is required. Early registration is available for $149 per person through Oct. 1.

Both events are sponsored by the West Texas Innovation Network.
