RED is ripping the runway on April 30 as students at Abilene Christian University make way for the annual fashion show. Tickets are $10 and come with a Red Thread Bracelet from The Red Thread Movement, an ACU student-led initiative that provides housing and employment to girls and young women affected by human trafficking in Nepal.
“Although you see lots of Red Thread bracelets on campus, there are not as many of them off campus,” says Whitney Puckett, advertising/public relations major from Melbourne, Fla. and producer of In the RED. "This is the first campaign to really connect the ACU campus, Abilene, Eternal Threads and the Red Thread Movement."
This year’s In the RED Fashion Show will take place at the historic Windsor Hotel Ballroom at 401 Pine Street in downtown Abilene. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. and the show begins at 8 p.m. Tickets can be reserved through firstname.lastname@example.org or purchased at ACU’s McGlothlin Campus Center from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. on April 25-30. (Tickets will also be available at the door.) The show will feature clothing from Dillard’s at the Mall of Abilene and handmade accessories from Eternal Threads, which provides employment to women in developing countries.
Guests can shop the Hanger and Rod boutique set up by ACU’s Advertising/Public Relations club. The boutique’s wares consist of high-end clothing donated by various students. Other student organizations and local businesses will also have booths set up for product sampling, sales and awareness.
