Seibert performs on Broadway with JackmanPosted October 20, 2011
Tony Award winner Hugh Jackman will return to the New York stage this month in a one-man show, Hugh Jackman, Back on Broadway, playing Oct. 25, 2011 - Jan. 1, 2012 at The Broadhurst Theatre. He'll be accompanied not only by an 18-piece orchestra, but also by a troupe of dancers that includes ACU alumna Lara Siebert ('06).
"I am thrilled with Lara's amazing success moving on to another Broadway show," says Adam Hester, chair of the Department of Theatre at ACU. "It's especially satisfying knowing that Hugh Jackman selected Lara personally as one of his five backup dancers and singers."
As a student, Seibert played several leads, including the roles of "Lois/Bianca" in Kiss Me Kate, Miranda in The Tempest and "Gertrude McFuzz" in Seussical. Seibert also designed the sets for the main stage production of John Steinbeck's Of Mice and Men.
After graduation, Seibert was cast in the national tour of The Producers, performing in the chorus and understudying the role of "Ulla." She repeated that success in another professional production of The Producers in New Jersey. Shortly after the tour, Seibert auditioned and landed both the chorus and understudying role in Young Frankenstein.
"Lara is such a humble and grounded individual," adds Hester. "I love that when I go to New York, I will usually get to see her perform and always get to see her at church. She inspires me!"
