Posted October 14, 2011

Dr. Rick Piersall, director of the ACU Opera, will participate in the Armel Opera Competition and Festival in Szeged, Hungary on Oct. 14.

Piersall will perform in The Secret Agent with the Center for Contemporary Opera, a New York City-based company. He performed in the show's premiere in New York this fall.

"The atmosphere here in Hungary is wonderful," says Piersall. "The company is full of friendly, helpful, enthusiastic artists and Szeged is a fascinating and intriguing city."

The Secret Agent is a story of anarchy and terrorist plots in 19th-century London, based on the novel by Joseph Conrad. The performance will be streamed from the Szeged National Theater on Friday at noon CST. Watch the live stream and vote for your favorite performance.
