FCA hosts Fields of Faith eventPosted October 05, 2011
On Oct. 12, the Abilene chapter of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) will host the seventh year of Fields of Faith. An annual, nationwide FCA event, Fields of Faith brings together athletes and believers for a time to read Scripture, share testimonies and worship together.
"It's the perfect kingdom-building opportunity," says Lisa Coleman, Abilene area director of FCA. "All denominations, all ages, all walks of life – laying down all the things that usually separate and divide us and coming together as one to worship outside – in a football stadium – under the stars. There's just nothing better on this side of heaven!"
Fields of Faith will bring together FCA members and guests from Abilene Christian University, Hardin-Simmons University and McMurry University, as well as those from Big Spring, Brownwood, San Angelo and Graham. Last year's attendance reached approximately 8,000, with numbers expected to rise this year.
"I love Fields of Faith - it's an incredible experience and a great way to magnify Christ in our lives and be able to make an impact on those around us," says David Pillen ('12), FCA officer and electronic media major.
Beyond the Fields of Faith event, FCA is a vital component of ACU's student life. Through weekly meetings, worship nights and other events, FCA provides spiritual encouragement to athletes on campus.
Fields of Faith will be held at Abilene's Shotwell Stadium on Oct. 12 at 7 p.m. For more info on Fields of Faith, visit here. To read more about FCA in the Abilene area, visit here .
