ACU ranked No. 1 Up-and-Coming university

Posted September 13, 2011

Abilene Christian University has again been named the No. 1 Up-and-Coming university in the West by U.S. News & World Report in its "America's Best Colleges" guide. This is the third time in four years for leaders from peer institutions to rank us tops among regional universities for academic innovation, an accomplishment no other university can claim.

And for the second consecutive year, the university received recognition for Best Undergraduate Teaching (tied for No. 3 in the West region).

Overall, ACU ranks 17th in the West, up two places from last year. No other university in the Top 25 of our region and classification improved as much as Abilene Christian.

In addition, ACU is one of only 18 institutions across the nation - including Stanford University, the University of Notre Dame and Purdue University - recognized for having a stellar First-Year Experience. The magazine's editors cite ACU for bringing freshmen "together with faculty or staff on a regular basis."

In the Best Value Schools category, ACU again ranks 12th for the fourth straight year. The designation is awarded to institutions based on a school's overall academic quality weighed against net cost of attendance. "The higher the quality of the program and the lower the cost, the better the deal," according to U.S. News editors.
