ACU holds ranking as 'Great College to Work For'

Posted July 25, 2011

ACU has again been named one of the greatest colleges in the nation to work for. On The Chronicle for Higher Education’s list of 2011 Great Colleges to Work For, ACU earned recognition from its employees in the categories of:

  • Facilities, Workspaces & Security, for the beautiful campus, the effort to continually make workspaces fit the needs of faculty and staff, and the steps ACU has taken to ensure that campus is a secure environment;
  • Work/Life Balance, for the university’s flexible policies regarding employees need to manage their personal lives; and
  • Supervisor/Department Chair Relationship, for the excellence of ACU’s supervisors in making expectations clear and soliciting ideas from their employees.

"I'm very pleased about this recognition from The Chronicle of Higher Education," says Dr. Phil Schubert, president of the university. "It sends a powerful message to those who aren't on our campus how proud our faculty and staff are to be a part of the ACU community -- to be serving and educating our students as together we live out our God-given calling."

This is the fourth consecutive year ACU has been honored as one of the best colleges to work for. More than 300 higher education institutions participated in this year’s survey, and ACU was among only 85 four-year institutions to be honored.

The Chronicle surveyed nearly 44,000 administrators, faculty members, and professional support staff members to determine which schools topped the list in each category. The publication also gathered an institutional audit of information on demographics and workplace policies from each institution.
