ACU tops LSC list of 4.0 GPA athletes

Posted July 12, 2011

This year, ACU's student-athletes have proved themselves to be impressive competitors on the field, earning six LSC titles, two NCAA regional titles and two national titles.

However, the students' success in the classroom has also earned them recognition from the Lone Star Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll. More than 100 student-athletes made the 2010-11 list, and ACU had the most athletes with flawless marks, topping the list with 20 students who hold 4.0 grade point averages.

"I'm extremely proud of each of our student-athletes who have been recognized by the LSC for their excellence in the classroom," says Jared Mosley, ACU's director of athletics. "The discipline and effort it takes to balance the number of demands on a college student-athlete are extremely challenging."

ACU has a long history of academic excellence in its athletic programs. In the past, the university has produced 30 NCAA post-graduate scholarship winners and 56 first-team academic all-America winners.

"We continue to strive to prepare our student-athletes spiritually, physically and academically for the challenges that await them after graduation," says Mosley. "We are extremely blessed to have coaches, staff and student-athletes who are committed to giving their best and making a difference."
