Aaron Watson is Young Alumnus of the Year

Posted April 15, 2011 Aaron Watson ('00) will be on campus April 26-27 to receive ACU's 2011 Young Alumnus of the Year Award, and celebrate with the ACU and Abilene community.

Watson, who learned to play the guitar in a beginner guitar class at ACU and experimented with songwriting during his time at the university, has become a national country music sensation. He has also shown himself an impressive businessman, building his independent company, Big Label Records.

"Aaron is the epitome of what the Young Alumnus of the Year represents. Since his graduation, he has brought prestige and honor to the university both personally and professionally, through his performance on stage and as a businessman with his own record label," says Jama Cadle, interim director of Alumni Relations. "Aaron is always quick to promote his alma mater and share how ACU was influential in his life. He is most deserving of this recognition."

Watson will accept his award at a ceremony in ACU's Hunter Welcome Center, Tuesday, April 26 at 6 p.m. The community is invited to share in the celebration at the ceremony. Tickets are available for $20 and can be purchased by contacting the Alumni Association at 325-674-2622.
