Kiva.org co-founder to speak at Springboard DinnerPosted March 21, 2011
Jessica Jackley, co-founder of Kiva.org, will speak at the Springboard Ideas Challenge Awards Dinner on Thursday, Mar. 31. Jackley was named one of TIME Magazine's Top 100 Most Influential People for 2009. Her organization lends money to individuals and small businesses around the world to alleviate poverty.
"Jackley is a dynamic speaker. We are so excited to have her on our campus," says Amanda Pittman, marketing associate for ACU's College of Business Administration. "She'll be speaking at the awards dinner as well as in chapel on Friday as part of our Social Justice Week."
Kiva is an organization that empowers entrepreneurs across the globe by connecting them with the loans they need to meet their goals. By 2012, total loans through Kiva.org for the world's working poor are expected to reach $1 billion.
The Springboard awards dinner, which will also honor the winners of ACU's annual Springboard Ideas Challenge, will be in ACU's Hunter Welcome Center. The reception begins at 6 p.m. and the dinner will be from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Tickets are $15.
