JMC prof to speak at Bank Investor Relations Symposium in NYC

Posted March 08, 2011

During Spring Break week, ACU's Dave Hogan will travel to New York City to speak at the national SNL Bank Investor Relations Symposium. The conference will be held at the New York Stock Exchange, a place rich in the traditions of the stock market, Wall Street and capitalism.

Hogan, an instructor in ACU's Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, has extensive career experience in investor relations, having served as an investor relations officer for three companies as well as an investor relations consultant at two public relations agencies.

Hogan has also been a member of the National Investor Relations Institute, the trade group representing IR officers, for nearly 15 years, and currently belongs to the Dallas/Fort Worth NIRI chapter.

Hogan will discuss best practices in online communication, the changing roles of IR websites and news releases, and new communication tools which can help raise a company's visibility with its investors. He will also speak about the importance of combining new practices with traditional ones in the area of promotional strategies and tactics.

"Traditional public relations tools such as news releases aren't going away any time soon, but companies today can select from a far richer menu of communication choices that, when used well, will garner superior results," says Hogan. "Companies that use social media and video effectively, in combination with traditional print documents, will attract a larger and more loyal following."

This is Hogan's second time to speak at the SNL national conference.
