This past weekend, members of ACU's Department of Music faculty attended the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) annual convention held in San Antonio.

Paul Piersall, chair of the music department at ACU, commented on the diverse musical talent showcased at the convention every year.

"The conference features rehearsals and performances of all the All-State bands, choirs, orchestras and jazz bands, made up of students selected through a rigorous audition process," said Piersall. "In addition, there are performances by choirs, bands, orchestras, elementary singers and musicians who are selected by audition, as well as presentations by professional performers and outstanding clinicians."

TMEA works to "provide professional growth opportunities, to encourage interaction among music education professionals, to foster public support for music in schools, to offer quality musical experiences for students, to cultivate universal appreciation and lifetime involvement in music, and to develop and maintain productive working relationships with other professional organizations" throughout the year, according to its website.

"Many of our faculty attend each year and will continue to be a part of this outstanding and well-known music educators' convention," said Piersall.
