Undefeated Wildcats ranked No. 3 in the nation
Posted October 25, 2010The Abilene Christian University Wildcats coasted to a 53-14 victory this past weekend over the Eastern New Mexico University Greyhounds. ACU quarterback Mitchell Gale threw for five touchdowns for the second straight game.
With the victory, the undefeated Wildcats are ranked No. 3 in the latest American Football Coaches' Association NCAA Division II poll, which was released Monday.
The Wildcat offense totaled 575 yards (362 passing and 213 rushing), with Gale leading the team to scores on its first five drives of the game in building a 33-0 halftime lead.
Now 8-0 on the season and 5-0 in the Lone Star Conference South Division, the Wildcats next face the 3-4 Angelo State University Rams. The game will be Saturday, Oct. 30, at Shotwell Stadium in Abilene at 2 p.m.
