ACU and ACU athletics host luncheon with Peggy NelsonPosted September 21, 2010
The Women for ACU invite the community to a luncheon to meet Peggy Nelson, as she discusses her new book, Life with Lord Byron, about her marriage to PGA golfer Byron Nelson.
"I am delighted we will be hosting Mrs. Byron Nelson on campus, since Peggy and Byron have been great benefactors of the ACU golf program over many years," says Dr. Bob Hunter, ACU senior vice president emeritus. "The Byron Nelson Golf Program endowment supports many deserving young people every year, and all of us at ACU are deeply grateful for their generous support and longstanding friendship."
Peggy Nelson's husband, Byron Nelson, was a member of the PGA Hall of Fame, Texas Sports Hall of Fame and World Golf Hall of Fame, as well as the first golfer to be awarded a Congressional Gold Medal for his contributions to the game of golf as a player, teacher and commentator. He died Sept. 26, 2006, at the age of 94.
Nelson will be signing copies of her book on campus from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 24. The luncheon provides a time to meet Nelson in a more personal setting. The event is sponsored by ACU athletics.
"I know that Peggy will be a delightful speaker at the luncheon and that her personally autographed book will be a tremendous gift for everyone to share with family and friends," says Hunter.
The event will be held in the Living Room of the McGlothlin Campus Center, 1-2 p.m. The cost is $15, and limited seating is available. To make a lunch reservation, call 674-6853. To pre-order books, call 674-2495. Other questions can be directed to Dr. Bob Hunter at email@example.com.
