ACU Ranked #1 Up and Coming School in Region, Improves Standing OverallPosted August 19, 2010
Abilene Christian University has been named one of "America’s Best Colleges" yet again by U.S. News & World Report. According to the magazine's soon-to-be-published "Best Colleges" guidebook for 2011, ACU is the top "Up and Coming" university in the West Region. The university is ranked 19th overall, an improvement from the 20th spot in 2010.
In addition, ACU is ranked second in the category of Commitment to Teaching - West for the second year in a row. College presidents, provosts and admissions deans were asked to identify up to ten schools in their U.S. News ranking category where the faculty has an unusual commitment to undergraduate teaching.
ACU also ranks 12th in the category of "Great Schools at Great Prices" for the third straight year.
"We are gratified to be recognized once again for the exceptional nature of our academic quality," says Dr. Phil Schubert, ACU president. "Our exceptional Christian faculty continue to deliver a learning experience for our students that sets them apart."
The determination of ACU's status as top regional up-and-comer was made by college administrators who were surveyed last spring. They were asked to nominate institutions they think have recently made the most promising and innovative changes in the areas of academics, faculty, student life, campus or facilities.
Schubert adds, "It says a great deal about ACU's reputation that our peers in the academic world are picking up on what we've known for some time – that our faculty, staff and students are committed to excellence in all they do as they lead Christ-centered lives."
ACU has also just been recognized by Forbes Magazine as one of "America's Best Colleges." Out of more than 6,600 accredited postsecondary institutions eligible for consideration, the editors deemed 610 to be "among the best in the country," according to the new report.
