Russian musical ensemble performs on ACU campus as part of U.S. tourPosted May 19, 2010
Psalom, an a cappella musical ensemble from St. Petersburg, Russia, will be performing on Abilene Christian University’s campus on Thursday, May 20. A spiritual music ensemble led by Konstantin Zhigulin, the group will perform two concerts at ACU as part of their U.S. tour.
Joel Petty, resident missionary in ACU’s College of Biblical Studies, has close ties with the group.
"Konstantin Zhigulin's music, written for congregational singing a cappella, meets a deep need for reflective music in worship," says Petty, on break from his work in St. Petersburg, Russia. "Konstantin's visit will be an encouragement to the community of faith and everyone who hears - and learns to sing - his music."
Psalom will perform a brief concert at 12:15 p.m. in ACU’s Chapel on the Hill, and a longer program at 7 p.m. in the Beauchamp Amphitheater.
The group has recently released a CD out with eleven songs in English as well as a few in Russian. To learn more about Psalom, visit their website.
