Local entrepreneurs come together for the Springboard Challenge dinner and exhibit
Posted April 21, 2010
ACU's Springboard Ideas Challenge will conclude Saturday, April 24, with the Ideas Intersection Dinner and Exhibits sponsored by Workforce Solutions. Bill White, former mayor of Houston and current Democratic candidate for governor of Texas, will speak.
"We are honored to have Bill White address our students and local entrepreneurs," says Kevin Christian, director of Entrepreneurship Programs. "He will share his personal successes as an entrepreneur, the challenges and opportunities he sees in the current economic climate, and also the issues facing the energy sector which is so important to our region."
Saturday's event will begin at 6 p.m. in ACU's Hunter Welcome Center. Posters highlighting this year's ideas will be on display prior to the dinner.
During White's time as mayor, the Houston area led the nation's cities in job growth, adding more jobs than 37 states combined. White, a nationally recognized energy expert, pushed for practical measures to reduce America's dependence on foreign oil. He has served as deputy secretary of energy and holds degrees from Harvard University and the University of Texas School of Law.
The Ideas Intersection dinner and exhibits are open to the public, and tickets are $15. For more information or to purchase tickets, call (325) 674-2762.
