ACU theology professor takes part in international conference in Switzerland

Posted February 05, 2010 ACUDr. Frederick Aquino, associate professor of theology and philosophy in the Graduate School of Theology at Abilene Christian University, recently presented a paper at the third annual World Universities Forum, January 9-11 in Davos, Switzerland.

The paper, entitled The Urge to Connect: Toward an Epistemology of Wisdom in the University, offers suggestions about the conditions that cultivate understanding and wisdom in the university setting.

"The conference helped take into consideration the educational implications of our project and provided an opportunity to think more carefully about the challenge of getting people to think critically and globally within the university setting," says Aquino.

Aquino and Dr. William Abraham, professor of theology at Southern Methodist University, currently are working on a book that focuses on the relationship between epistemology and theology.

The World Universities Forum is an annual conference held in different locations around the world. This year, university leaders, diplomats and academics with high interest in college level education were invited to the Congress Center Davos to discuss the role and future of the university in a changing world.
