Nationally recognized political analyst Juan Williams will appear in Abilene, Feb. 18Posted January 22, 2010 Juan Williams, a nationally recognized political analyst, will speak at the annual KACU 89.7 FM fundraiser, Feb. 18, and will appear at a reception at First Financial Bank at 6 p.m., followed by a dinner at the Abilene Civic Center at 7 p.m.
Abilene Christian Schools also contributed to the cause and teamed up with KACU — a National Public Radio affiliate — to raise money to pay for a visit from Williams, who before becoming an analyst, enjoyed a 21-year career writing for The Washington Post.
Williams now regularly appears on Fox News as a political commentator and is a contributing political analyst for National Public Radio.
The decision to bring Williams to Abilene was based on his popularity, as well as his evenhanded approach to politics, according to Myra Dean, director of development for the station.
"We felt he (Williams) would be a good fit here in Abilene. He has fans from Fox News, as well as NPR radio," Dean said. "What's made him so popular is he's able to take a fair and balanced stance on many issues. He is an excellent speaker."
