ACU Leadership Camps encourage youth faith, service and leadership

Each summer, Abilene Christian University hosts hundreds of campers on campus, ranging in age from children entering first grade to high school graduates. Beginning June 7, Leadership Camps are starting again, teaching campers about servant leadership, community service and personal spiritual growth.

Kadesh Life Camp is an opportunity for students entering 10th grade through high school graduates to experience faith in small group discussions, group presentations, service projects and exciting, unique devotionals. Centered on a single theme, the week's curriculum is designed to bring faith alive in the hearts of campers as they continue their spiritual journey.

MPulse, a camp for students entering 7th -9th grades, is a week of growth for middle school students. Campers work in peer groups led by volunteers and camp staff, working to deepen their faith and understanding of God's word. They will build community with other Christians their age.

Upper elementary students who attend Learning to Lead can expect to identify, question and apply principles of leadership to their own lives. Worship, small group interaction and projects are integrated with recreation for a fun, challenging week designed to bring campers closer to God. Students entering 4th-6th grades can attend one of the three sessions.

For younger elementary students, entering 1st-3rd grades, KidQuest Day Camp provides summer fun and games. Child-centered learning activities and physical challenges will motivate children toward both independent and cooperative development. As students ask and answer simple questions about God's love, they interact with camp staff members who model the Christian lifestyle every day.

Cross Training, a one-week session in the mountains of Sipapu, New Mexico, offers a different camp experience to high school students. The curriculum, which includes small-group Bible studies and intense discussions as well as physical challenges such as hiking, mountain climbing, river rafting and challenge courses, will challenge the mind, the body and the spirit.
