Dean Kenneth W. Starr, the Duane and Kelly Roberts Dean and Professor of Law at Pepperdine University School of Law, will be the keynote speaker for Abilene Christian University's SpringBoard Ideas Challenge awards dinner, April 19. The competition gives budding entrepreneurs from the academic community the opportunity to pit their big idea against other participants, competing for $30,000 prize money.
Starr has served as Solicitor General of the United States, United States Circuit Judge for the District of Columbia Circuit, counselor to U.S. Attorney General William French Smith, law clerk to Chief Justice Warren E. Burger and Independent Counsel for five investigations, including Whitewater.
"Dean Starr has a remarkable background of experience as a judge, educator, attorney and builder of young lives," said James Porter, ACU's Entrepreneur-in-Residence. "He has been instrumental in establishing the "Center for Entrepreneurship and the Law" at Pepperdine. We are pleased that he will be available to talk with students from all Abilene area universities who are interested in studying the law."
The awards dinner, held at 6 p.m. in the Teague Special Events Center at ACU, will honor
the winners of the SpringBoard Ideas Challenge.
