ACU awards degrees in December ceremony, Dec. 14

ACU Commencement Abilene Christian University will award 235 degrees and present awards at Commencement on Friday, Dec. 14 at 7:30 p.m. Graduate students will make up 27 of those receiving their diplomas.

Awards to be presented include the Board of Trustees awards, given for exemplary character and outstanding achievements that brought honor to the university; the Dean Adams Achievement awards, given to students who overcame obstacles throughout their educational careers; the Alpha Chi awards for perfect 4.0 grade point averages; the B. Sherrod Scholarship awards given for students' overall contribution to the university, which include a $500 scholarship for graduate school; and the Honor Man and Honor Woman awards presented to students who exemplified character and scholarship and were recognized as an ideal student.

Two young women will receive the Alumni Association's Purple and White Award, given every year to a select number of graduating seniors who exemplify honesty, integrity, service and dependability. These students made a significant impact on their peers, as well as members of the faculty and staff.

A reception honoring the graduates will be held immediately following the ceremony in the Teague Special Events Center.
