ACU, other colleges launch online consumer information Web site
U-CAN logoAbilene Christian University joins more than 600 private universities nationwide in the launch of a new online resource offering easily accessible comprehensive information for prospective college students.

U-CAN (University and College Accountability Network) is a Web site designed to allow colleges and universities to provide consumer information directly to students and parents in a simple, consistent format. The U-CAN web site - www.ucan-network.org - will go live the morning of September 26.

NAICU (National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities) has led in the development of U-CAN. Data and narrative sections within the institutional profiles will cover admissions, enrollment, academics, student demographics, graduation rates, most common fields of study, transfer of credit policy, accreditation, faculty information, class size, tuition and fees trends, price of attendance, financial aid, campus housing, student life, and campus safety. Students and families will have free online access to objective and measurable data supplemented by hyperlinks to relevant sections of an institution's Web site.

"This resource is unique in its transparency and consistency among the various institutions," said ACU president Dr. Royce Money. "Providing accurate information to students and parents is a priority for us, and this initiative promises to be a valuable way to help people as they are making important decisions about higher education."
