ACU students study around the world
Study AbroadIn late August, 41 Abilene Christian University students boarded planes for Montevideo, Uruguay and Oxford, England, as part of ACU's Study Abroad program. The students will live abroad for the semester, returning Dec. 12.

Each year, ACU sends approximately 200 students to study in Europe and Latin America. ACU faculty teach classes and mentor the students throughout the experience.

"We feel that these programs are a great expression of ACU's mission to educate students for Christian service and leadership throughout the world," said Lauren Graham, ACU Study Abroad coordinator.

Dan McVey, professor of missions at ACU, is currently in Oxford teaching classes entitled "Approaches to Islam" and "The Cross and the Crescent." As part of the coursework, students will travel to southern Spain for one week.

Dr. Autumn Sutherlin, assistant professor of chemistry, is teaching Introduction to Chemistry, Biochemistry I and Physical Chemistry for Life Sciences in Montevideo. As part of the Latin America program, students will travel to Iguazu Falls for a day, Brazil for a week and Buenos Aires for five days.

Both programs require students to participate in service work with local churches or non-profit organizations, in addition to regular studies and travel.

The Study Abroad office is currently accepting applications for the fall 2008 semester in both Oxford and Montevideo. For more information, contact Lauren Graham at 325-674-2754, or email her at lauren.graham@acu.edu.
