Workshop encourages Bible teachers and servant leaders in the church

Abilene Christian University will host the 2007 Summer Workshop for Christian teachers and leaders July 26-28. Participants will meet together and help one another learn new ways to teach God's word and serve in His Kingdom, said Dr. David Wallace, event coordinator and associate professor of Bible, missions and ministry at ACU.
"The workshop is a place where Christian leaders and teachers can share ideas and encourage one another," said Wallace. "We have a long history of helping Bible class teachers and a variety of other ministry leaders discover fresh ways to serve and teach God's people. Our goal is to encourage and equip all those who participate."
The keynote speaker will be Grady King, senior minister at the South MacArthur Church of Christ in Irving. His ministry passions include encouraging church leaders, spiritual formation, community networking, and helping churches think and act in missional ways.
During his three keynote addresses, King will reassure participants that God is in us, for us and with us as we seek to participate in His work, said Wallace.
Other presenters will lead practical sessions on faith formation, including classes to instruct teachers in Bible classes of all age groups. Emily Lemley of Westlake, Calif., and Ann Young of Abilene, will share ideas for spiritual growth in the Women's Ministry track. In the Small-Church track of the workshop, Larry Suttle of Wichita Falls, and John Knox of Granbury, will lead a discussion on how to create an atmosphere of health in smaller churches. During the Older-Adult ministry track, nine presenters are scheduled to share creative ideas for spiritual, social and service activities for older adult ministry.
