National graduate admissions expert speaks to ACU students
Donald AsherOne of the nation's leading authorities on the graduate school admissions process, Donald Asher, recently visited Abilene Christian University to give students insight into the graduate admissions process, as well as other career-related issues.

This is the fourth year that Asher has been invited to lead this workshop for ACU's McNair Scholars, a federally funded post baccalaureate achievement program designed to provide enriching academic and research experiences. This conference specifically focuses on the writing style needed to succeed in applying to highly competitive graduate programs.

"During the workshop, students learned to look at their documentation from the point of view of an admissions authority, such as a graduate school dean or department chair," said Dr. Jason Morris, director of the McNair Scholars program at ACU. "Students participated in live writing exercises designed to elicit both content and style improvements in the essays, statements, biographies and letters they will have to write as part of the graduate school application process."

Asher has written nine books and been seen by thousands of students across the country through his lectures, tapes and teleconferences.

"His expertise is invaluable to our students," said Morris.
